January is a time when we look at everything in our lives we would like to change, how we eat, how much exercise we get and even changing our livelihoods. We often want to make changes because we feel out of balance even unsettled. But here it is mid February. Have you made any of the changes? Small actions add up to make a big impact.
What in your life is causing irritation? We can call it several things, irritations, tolerations, clutter, but whatever name you attach to it the results are the same, less energy, turmoil and often chaos. Look around the room you are in, spend a couple of minutes really noticing the room. What about this room have you been putting up with?
Piles of paper
Burnt out light bulb or poor lighting
Draft or too warm
Unpleasant colors or odors
Broken wand on the window blinds
Squeaky door
Within just a few minutes you should be able to assemble a quick list of tolerations. You could apply the same concept to each room in your home, your automobile, your office, your health, your finances, your employment and even your relationships. So what are you putting up with? Make a list of at least 50 tolerations.
The time and energy spent in tolerating these things builds up, slowly draining you and limiting your effectiveness and overall happiness. We don’t always notice how these tolerations can zap our creativity and energy, preventing us from moving forward with freedom.
Start today and do something each day to begin eliminating the clutter. This process alone will allow space in your life for new and exciting things to enter.
You may find that just the process of awareness will help you to move beyond the boundaries the tolerations have created, or you may find that the list will inspire you to tackle many of the items immediately and resolve them. There is also the possibility that the list is overwhelming and prevents you from moving in any direction. If this happens destroy the list. Begin on a much smaller level, make a list of 5 things and commit to resolving them in 30 days.
Continue to add to your list, even if you don’t believe there is a solution and answer to the situation. Write it down and be open to the solutions showing up.
Your life will change as you begin to ‘step over nothing’ making a commitment to leading a life as toleration free as possible. Enjoying a new level of energy, increased creativity and productivity as well as the calm balanced existence you will create.
