April means Spring! And spring means…Spring cleaning! Yes, I’m sure some home spring cleaning may be necessary, but I’m talking about cleaning up your content and website. Why not do a review of how your content has performed by measuring responses, shares, retweets, and other metrics? Popular pieces can always be reused, and even revamped to make them better.
Not-so-popular pieces shouldn’t be discarded altogether. How can you add some additional information or some other item to make them highly relevant and engaging? What about updating the content with fresh information and adding a video review of the changes embedded in the post? Or consider creating infographics to spice up basic content pieces.
However, you choose to clean your digital house, seek to keep what is or can be effective, and look for ways to make it even better. And of course, keep adding fresh, new content into the mix. Spring not only means cleaning up but the renewal of life!
SPRINGTIME SPORTS
Springtime also means sports! Just look at the major sports that go active or culminate in April:
- MLB Opening Day (was actually March 29, so get started!)
- The Master’s Golf Tournament – April 5-8, 2018
- NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game – April 2, 2018
- NFL Draft – Begins April 26, 2018
Use these big sporting events to market your business. Even if your business is not directly related to sports, you can offer products in team colors, or sponsor an online games bracket for your favorite sport (be sure to do so legally).
TAX TIME
April also means time to file your yearly income taxes. April 15 is the deadline to file personal tax returns, although businesses can take longer with the proper paperwork. Accountants and tax lawyers really ramp up their business efforts at this time, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us are left out.
Consider offering after-tax specials or April coupons to entice customers to spend some of their refund money with you. Provide tax tips for small businesses or individuals in fun and engaging ways. Celebrate how our taxes support a government of the people, by the people, and for the people and post a photo of you at the mailbox, mailing your tax return!
