I measure the results of all marketing strategies, how many people do I get in front of and how many prospects they generate. How many of those prospects turn into clients right away, how many within 6 months or a year? My numbers were different the first half of this year than they were the second half and I will make adjustments accordingly. The numbers help me to make informed decisions about my business. As I evaluated the information I have decided to make slight changes to my strategies.

Then I look at my online strategies and go through the same process. Each strategy receives the same kind of scrutiny. I spend the month of December evaluating and double checking the feedback I have received from the market place. After those evaluations I begin planning for next year. I begin with my income goals, the hours I want to spend working, and then I determine the most effective and fun marketing strategies to put into place for the year. I plan my entire year and then of course I adjust as needed.

Many solopreneurs just do what they do–flying by the seat of the pants. If that is working for you that’s great, but be careful as the economy changes you will want to be in as position to make informed decisions. This is a year that it is especially important for solopreneurs to look back at their numbers. Doing so will allow them to move forward to a profitable 2009.
